“Our Muhammed Hassan was diagnosed with thalassemia mayor. Since then he has needed constant blood transfusions. We are a family of 5, we fought from a financial point of view, but being able to organize ourselves to have blood and drugs was becoming difficult in our reality ”.
He tells Muhammed Hassan's family about their experience with the disease. “After regular blood transfusions and medication, Hassan's health was improving, but we couldn't bear to see our son suffering from pain, needles and fear of the reactions that blood transfusions might have.
In the meantime we have been looking for a curative treatment and we have learned about the bone marrow transplant. Fortunately, Hassan had a 100% HLA compliant brother. We visited the Cure2Children Foundation center at the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the University Hospital Dr. Akbar Niazi (ANTH). There we were provided with all the information on the treatment and cost of bone marrow transplantation.
Our son was hospitalized for the preparation of the transplant. Chemotherapy was difficult for him. He was unable to eat anything due to the fever and mucositis, but the whole team was very cooperative and kind. They supported us in every possible way.
In March 2019 Muhammad Hassan underwent a bone marrow transplant. Hassan's transplant was a success, the donor's bone marrow is working in him. We brought home our healthy and happy baby after so many months. Now we don't have to worry about having blood and raising money for his treatment.
Hassan turned 15 in 2020. He is a healthy teenager who goes to school and enjoys life like any normal child. We cannot thank the nurses and doctors at Cure2Children enough who have been very kind and supportive during the treatment of our son ”. The family.
