Four children with sickle cell disease have now been transplanted in Armenia: Stephanie, a 5-year-old girl, Samson, a 10-year-old boy and Isabella an 8-year-old girl, all from Nigeroa, and Manuella a 2 year-old girl from Cameroon.
Cure2Children made an agreement with the Hematology Center after Prof. Yeloyan (HCY) in Yerevan, which has a state-of-the-art transplant center: We would assist with the start-up of allogeneic transplant if HCY committed to do 10 children with sickle cell disease from Africa for free. HCY, directed by Professor Samvel Danyelan, has very professional and dedicated medical and nursing staff with substantial experience in managing children and adults with malignancies. In fact, so far everything is going as planned. Our Medical Director, Dr. Lawrence Faulkner, spent the whole month of July with the Armenia team and continues to follow our children online.
