Google give a Grant’s Award to Cure2Children

by Eugenio La Mesa

On 16 September 2009, Cure2Children were awarded a Google Grant for the use of free Google AdWords advertising. The Cure2Children advertisements will appear alongside related search results on Google and when a user clicks on one of them, he/she will be directed to our home page.

The Google Grants award, allow Cure2Children to spread its message of cure and treatment for thalassemia and leukemia in poor countries through the public, ensuring that it’s members are informed, engaged and in contact with one another.

This recognition is extremely important for us, as well as being a significant contribution, such that selection is made on the basis of serious criteria and at the total discretion of Google.

I’d like to thank Google in having confidence in us, and also their staff who have generously helped and advised us, in particular Eliana Pedriali (nb: any questions about Grants, write to googlegrants-italy@google.com), a special thank you to Claudio Zamboni for his invaluable advice, and also to Mauro Lupi.

I wish to add that Google, with great foresight and sensitivity, have decided to adopt the 1-1-1 formula created by Marc Benioff, founder and CEO of Salesforce and author of “The Business of Changing the World” that I read and appreciated, or :

* 1 % Equity (It is far easier to move stock into a foundation at an earlier stage.)

* 1 % Product (in donated or discounted products and services for nonprofit organizations receiving license donations from salesforce.com foundation OR through the development of functionality that is uniquely relevant to the nonprofit sector.)

* 1 % Time (in volunteer hours)

I hope that many other big companies will do like Salesforce and Google did, with Grants (for their services) to non profit and NGOs.
