Health On the Net Code of Conduct compliance
The Health on the Net Foundation Code of Conduct (HONcode) for medical and health Web sites addresses one of Internet's main healthcare issues: the reliability and credibility of information.
The Cure2Children website has initiated a process of accreditation according to the HONcode guidelines.
Principle 1 - Information must be authoritative
All medical information presented on our web site is attributed to an author and his/her training in the field is mentioned. This is done on an "Advisory Board" or "Editorial Board" information page. The qualifications of the information provider (author, webmaster or editor) are clearly stated (i.e. patient, Internet professional, medical or health professional). If the information provider is a medical doctor, his/her specialty is mentioned. If the author is not a medical professional, this is clearly stated on the web site. All acronyms relating to degrees or affiliations are explained.
Principle 2 - Purpose of the website
The information provided on our web site is designed to improve, not replace, the relationship between a patient and his/her own physician. The purpose of this web site and the missions of our organization is described, including the reasons for presenting the information (the purpose of the web site), and the intended audience.
Principle 3 - Confidentiality
Our site treats confidential, private or semi-private information such as email addresses and the content of emails received from or sent to our visitors. We inform our visitors whether their data will be recorded in our own database, who can access this database, if this information is used for our own statistics (anonymous or not), or if these statistics are used by third party or other companies. Our statement regarding confidentiality of data is displayed at.... and complies with Italian privacy policies and legal requirements for medical/health information privacy.
Principle 4 - Information must be documented: Referenced and dated
Our visitors are informed about the dates of publication and revision, scientific or official sources of health information quoted in your articles are and clearly indicate the recognized. For clinical and medical content, both dates of creation and last modification are specified.
Principle 5 - Justification of claims
Claims regarding the effectiveness or non-effectiveness of any product or treatment is justified by the editors. This website is not an advertising vehicle of a particular product or treatment, best efforts are made by the editors to provide balanced information on alternative therapies or generic products.
Principle 6 - Website contact details
The web publisher has a commitment to try to present information clearly and accessibly. Editor's contact information, such as a working email address or contact form, is available to visitors who would like to have more details or support from anywhere on the site.
Principle 7 - Disclosure of funding sources
Our source of funding is specified at the Received Donations page.
Principle 8 - Advertising policy
Our site does not host or receive funding from advertising or from the display of commercial content.
