The second EBMT Middle-income countries Pediatric Advanved Care Training  (EMPACT2) course was completed in December 2025.

Cure2Children’s Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Course, supported by the DKMS Access To Transplant program, equips nurses with the specialized skills needed to care for children undergoing stem cell transplantation in middle-income settings. The program blends evidence-based pediatric hematology-oncology content with practical, bedside decision-making so participants can confidently support multidisciplinary teams. Nurses explore key topics such as safe chemotherapy handling, infection prevention, central line care, transfusion support, pain and symptom management, and early recognition of transplant-associated emergencies. Just as important, the course emphasizes family-centered communication, cultural sensitivity, and psychosocial support—areas that can dramatically influence adherence and outcomes.

Through case discussions and protocols adapted for resource-limited hospitals, the APP Course helps translate complex guidelines into real-world practice. Participants leave with strengthened clinical reasoning, clearer escalation pathways, and tools to standardize care. By investing in advanced nursing leadership, Cure2Children helps build sustainable local capacity and improves the quality and continuity of pediatric care where it’s needed most.
