In 2012, the South East Asia Institute for Thalassemia (SEAIT) was created in collaboration with Manav Sewa Sangh Prem Niketan Hospital in Jaipur, the first center to offer a definitive cure, i.e. bone marrow transplantation in Rajasthan, a state with 60 million of people and several thousand thalassaemic children. The Cure2Children team of 6 doctors and 4 specialist nurses worked with the local medical team over a six-week period performing the first 3 bone marrow transplants. As of November 2022, a total of 165 matched to partially matched (haploidentical) family donor transplants have been performed by the local team with a 70% cure.
