Sana's history

Sana is a 12-year-old Afghan girl with transfusion thalassemia. Despite all the difficulties and costs of her treatment, her family has been taking care of her until now, however they want Sana to be treated.

She does not have a compatible sibling and is currently receiving supportive care, as well as BMT safety and justification assessment, at one of the Sankalp-Cure2Children thalassemia treatment centers in India.

Even though therapy and transfusions are provided free of charge, living in India and bearing the costs are still prohibitive for Sana's family.

Thanks to DKMS-Germany we already have € 4,500 for her BMT, but we have to reach at least € 35,000 to cover her stay in India for one year, supportive care and bone marrow transplant.
