Top-level international accreditation inspection at Sankalp India Foundation’s BMT Centre in Bangalore

Sankalp India Foundation’s Bone Marrow Transplant Centre in Bangalore marked a significant milestone in September 2025 as it welcomed auditors for the Joint Accreditation Committee ISCT-Europe & EBMT (JACIE). The review represents the gold standard for quality and safety in cellular therapy, and is a key step in the center’s ongoing journey to benchmark its clinical, laboratory, and governance practices against internationally recognized criteria. During the two-day visit, inspectors evaluated end-to-end pathways—from donor selection and consent, to stem cell collection, processing, storage, and infusion—along with post- transplant follow-up and outcomes tracking. They also examined staff training, incident reporting, quality management systems, data integrity, and patient information processes. The assessment is designed to ensure that every procedure aligns with best practice, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. As Bangalore continues to emerge as a hub for advanced healthcare, Sankalp India Foundation’s pursuit of JACIE accreditation reflects the region’s growing capability in complex, life-saving therapies. The very comprehesvie information technology platform, BMTPlus, was pivotal in the quality assurance process. Cure2Children would be particularly proud of top level international accreditation of the Mechtild Harf Sankalp Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in Bangalore, India. Our first example of true empowerment; to paraphrase Bill Drayton, founder of Ashoka, if you really want to make a difference, you should not just give the fish or teach how to use a fishing rod, you should promote a competitive fishing industry. I believe that this is what was achieved by the Sankalp India Foundation team in Bangalore.
